Abstract

|
The purpose of this longitudinal study is to explore the regional equity of social welfare facilities for the old in South Korea. This study uses Coutler`s Index of inequity(I) to determine the relative sufficiency of social welfare facilities for the old in the 230 regions from 2008 to 2015. The units of analysis are the number of target population, the number of social welfare facilities for the old and the number of workers at the facilities. Results from the analysis show that equity of social welfare facilities for the old is quantitatively guaranteed. Findings suggest that policy makers need to enhance qualitative equity based on regional infrastructure and needs.
